Authorities say that an incident involving an American Airlines plane prompted a major emergency response at O’Hare International Airport.
According to the Chicago Department of Aviation, just after 2:30pm CT, fire officials responded to an aircraft on fire and as they arrived, smoke and fire could be seen at the airport.
At least 7 passengers and a crew member were reportedly injured and were transported to area hospitals for evaluation.

These are videos showing evacuated passengers getting to safety far away from the plane seen on fire and airport fire department crews arriving to the plane on fire.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, American Airlines Flight 383 was departing from O’Hare and was headed to Miami, Florida when it experienced “a problem during takeoff.”
The plane had on board 161 passengers and 9 crew members.
The pilots aborted the takeoff and passengers were told to exited via a chute as flames were reported.
According to American Airlines, the plane had an engine malfunction.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, a runway was closed at the airport due to a “disabled aircraft”.
The National Transportation Safety Board said 3 investigators were being dispatched to the fire.
