Needles, CA: Joyful celebration during the Republic of China’s National Day 10-10 Ceremony 2016.
A joyful celebration was held during the Republic of China’s National Day 10-10 Ceremony 2016 on Monday, October 10th, 2016 (10-10) in Needles, California.
The 10-10 ceremony has been on going in our community for over years and commemorates the Wuch’ang Uprising on Tuesday, October 10th, 1911.
Over 100 people each year attend this event which was organized in 1973 by Bruce Weekley and Wing Yee.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, California and the City of Needles invited the public to celebrate the founding of the Republic of China (Taiwan) or Taiwan’s Independence Day.

The 10-10 ceremony began with a flag raising ceremony and the playing of both country’s national anthem played by the Needles High School Marching Band and sung by Danny Shen, Member of the Color Guard for the Veterans Association of the Republic of China Air Force.

Speakers included City of Needles Mayor Edward T. Paget, Needles City Manager Rick Daniels, and Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, California, and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Captain Ross Tarangle.

During the 10-10 ceremony, the Republic of China’s Veterans Association presented a “Plaque of Appreciation” of a $500 scholarship check to the Needles High School Marching Band.
Later in the 10-10 ceremony, ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez was given around of applause thanking ZachNews for their coverage every year of the 10-10 ceremony in Needles, California.

Over 106 people came from as far as Los Angeles, California; Phoenix, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada to celebration the Republic of China’s National Day 10-10 Ceremony 2016 in our community, including members of the Republic of China’s Veterans Association in Phoenix and Taiwan Benevolent Association of Las Vegas.

After the 10-10 ceremony, ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez speaks with the Danny Shen, Member of the Color Guard for the Veterans Association of the Republic of China Air Force about the Republic of China’s National Day 10-10 Ceremony 2016, held on Monday, October 10th, 2016 (10-10) in Needles, California, and about how the celebration bring 2 countries together by celebrating with friends.
Later, guest, dignitaries, and news media were welcomed to a luncheon at Panda Garden restaurant, located at 2302 Needles Highway, in Needles, California.
Employees at the Panda Garden restaurant tell ZachNews that they were so excited to have the luncheon at their restaurant.
The restaurant was packed with people and the delicious food from the Panda Garden restaurant kept on coming out for all to enjoyed.
Before everybody left the community, people lined up to purchased delicious honey from Mystic Maze Honey of Needles, California.
Each year, people buy out jars and jars of Mystic Maze Honey to take home from their visit to Needles, California and their reviews of the honey are always fantastic and delicious.
