The police pursuit began at about 8:45am PT after a report of a stolen vehicle near Morongo Valley, California, just west of Joshua Tree National Park, in Riverside County.
The stolen Toyota Camry drove on the westbound 60 Freeway entering into the areas of Pomona, California and Diamond Bar, California.
The driver exited onto the northbound Interstate 605 and got onto eastbound Interstate 10 in Covina, California where the suspect threw items, including a plastic bag, out the window before lighting a cigarette.
The lone driver then doubled back into eastern Riverside County, California then got onto northbound Interstate 215 Freeway in San Bernardino County, California.
The police pursuit came to an end when the driver of the stolen Toyota Camry exited the vehicle on the side of northbound Interstate 215 with an object in his hand.
The suspect walked across all lanes of both northbound and southbound Interstate 215 leaving authorities to close down both directions of Interstate 215 near University Parkway.
Along the southbound lanes of Interstate 215, the suspect climbed onto the edge of an overpass, dangling his legs over the side, as law enforcement officers approached with a K-9 dog.
As the suspect gestured with the object at a group of law enforcement officers, another law enforcement officer dashed up from behind the suspect and pulled him back from the ledge and onto the ground.
Other law enforcement officers joined the struggle and took the suspect, who appeared to be bleeding from his leg, into police custody.
