Breaking News!!: Borrego Springs, CA: Magnitude 5.2 earthquake hits Borrego Springs, California.

According to the United States Geological Survey, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake hits Borrego Springs, California at 1:04am PT on Friday, June 10th, 2016.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, no reports yet of injuries or damages.

Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is reporting no initial reports of damage.

California Highway Patrol is reporting a rock slide occurred by the earthquake along Montezuma Valley Road at mile marker 13-15 in the Palm Canyon, California area.

The road is closed and the California Highway Patrol and San Diego County crews is on scene to clear the area so that people could get through.

The earthquake was felt as far as into Los Angeles County, California; Riverside County, California; and San Bernardino County, California.

People are reporting on the United States Geological Survey’s” Do You Feel It” website moderate shaking nearest to the earthquake’s epicenter, light shaking in areas including Palm Springs, California; Landcaster, California; Victorville, California; and Barstow, California, and weak shaking as far away as Needles, California; Blythe, California, and Ventura, California.

Residents across the Coachella Valley, California area are reporting feeling a strong shaker.

Some residents living in Rancho Mirage, California and La Quinta, California reporting items knocked onto the floor inside their homes.

California Highway Patrol is reporting a number of rockslides on Highway 74 between Palm Desert, California and Pinyon Pines, California as well as several rockslides have also been reported on Highway 243 near Idyllwild, California.

According to CAL FIRE Riverside, there were no reports of injury or damage in our response area and engines have been removed from apparatus bays as precaution.

According to the Hemet Police Department, the earthquake set off a lot of alarms at businesses.

According to seismologist Lucy Jones, the earthquake occurred along the San Jacinto Fault, historically the most active fault in Southern California.
