Needles, CA: National Life Jacket Trade-In Day.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station will participate in a “Life Jacket Trade-In Day” event partnering with Division of Boating and Waterways (D.B.W.).

On Saturday, May 21st, 2016, personnel from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station will be at 2 locations in Needles, California from 8:00am to 12:00pm PT.

This year, Division of Boating and Waterways (D.B.W.) continues to partner with more than 50 life jacket trade-in events across the state beginning on Saturday, May 21st, 2016, as a part of National Life Jacket Trade-In Day, with trade-in events throughout the summer.

California boaters are encouraged to bring their old life jacket and trade it in for a new one, free.

Life jacket trade-in partners include aquatic centers, the Drowning Accident Rescue Team, United States Army Corps of Engineers, United States Coast Guard, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, United States Power Squadrons, and local law enforcement agencies.

**** When choosing the right life jacket, Division of Boating and Waterways (D.B.W.) reminds water enthusiasts that their life jackets must always be: ****

• Coast Guard-approved;
• The proper size;
• Approved for the intended boating activity, and;
• In good condition.
