Employees at Taco Bell in Needles, California say goodbye as they closed their doors permanently on Tuesday, March 29th, 2016.
This permanent closure of a business is the latest business to close their doors in Needles, California since the lost of CanDam Recycling in late December 2015.
On January 7th, 2016, ZachNews learned from a news tip that the Taco Bell, located at 2603 Columbus Street in Needles, California, was for sale and “will not be renewing lease.”
According to the website Loopnet, “Tenant will be vacating March 2016 and will not renew lease in December 31, 2016. Subject property consist of two parcels, Taco Bell on 0.73 acre and 1.44 acre land parcel. Taco Bell approx. 2,500 square foot, built in 1994 on a 20 year lease. Taco Bell renewed for 2 years extending lease until 12-31-2016. Taco Bell pays $4,584 per month NNN lease. Taco Bell will not be renewing lease. Taco Bell is available with or without additional 1.44 acres. Land development opportunity, available for hotel, gas, food or retail use. Subject offering is approximately 1.44 acres zoned General Commercial directly off of I-40 & River Road, Next to Taco Bell and Carl’s Jr. Site offers off ramp location, extreme visibility to I-40 which has traffic count in excess of 14,400 VPD. ZachNews asked Taco Bell management about the sale and not renewing their lease as well as if this closure had anything to do with not making enough sales or California’s minimum wage law, but they couldn’t comment on why they were closing only confirming the closing of the Taco Bell in Needles, California.
ZachNews also contacted Taco Bell headquarters about the sale and not renewing their lease as well as if this closure had anything to do with not making enough sales or California’s minimum wage law, but never got a reply or comment back.
Only ZachNews broke the news story and since then, people of all ages were deeply sad to lose not only a business, but a part of the Needles, California Family.
Weeks leading up to the day of permanently closing, employees at Taco Bell began preparing for what is needing to be done on that day of closing.
Just 2 hours before permanently closing, people were seen rushing to get in line to place their last order at Taco Bell.
People were also seen taking pictures outside the Taco Bell to remember their favorite place to eat, including a girl who was sad that her favorite place to eat was permanently closing that day.
Outside, employees of Taco Bell began moving boxes into a U-Haul moving truck.
With a wave goodbye, employees at Taco Bell shut their doors at 5:00pm PT permanently closing for business Taco Bell in Needles, California.

As the last customers at Taco Bell said their goodbyes, drivers not knowing the Taco Bell was permanently close drove into the drive-thru to order food, but was turned away when they were informed that they’re no loner open.
Just 4 hours after permanently closing, employees of Taco Bell were see taking down window banners, mopping up the floor, closing around outside, and started taking down equipment.
Outside, at least 28 vehicles, 12 semi trucks, and a loaded tow truck drove up to the permanent closed Taco Bell not knowing they were no longer open anymore.
Several semi truckers tell ZachNews that they would always pull into Taco Bell for the evening from a long drive and eat at Taco Bell.
ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez got to speak to an employees of Taco Bell about the permanent closure of Taco Bell and how customers are reacting to the permanent closure of Taco Bell, including a card drawing a young child made and who was sad that Taco Bell was permanently closing.

Unknown what will be done to the property, but hopes are that somebody can come in and open up their business, and hire local people from our community, a community in need of more businesses and jobs.
The community hopes that new businesses come to Needles, California and open up their business, especially in the categories of food such as a grocery store, meat market, and bakery; manufacturing and industry; tourism and entertainment especially for children and teens, medical and dental care services, and transportation service.
Employees of Taco Bell thanked all of their wonderful customers and will miss them all deeply.

Breaking News!!: Hollywood, CA: Anna Marie “Patty” Duke has died.
Anna Marie “Patty” Duke, an American actress of stage, film, and television, has died on Tuesday, March 29th, 2016.
According to Mitchell Stubbs, Representative for Patty Duke, the cause of her death was sepsis from a ruptured intestine.
A statement released from Anna Marie “Patty” Duke’s family says, “This morning, our beloved wife, mother, matriarch and the exquisite artist, humanitarian and champion for mental health, Anna Patty Duke pearce, closed her eyes, quieted her pain and ascended to a beautiful place.”
Patty Duke was born Anna Marie Duke in December 14th, 1946.
Patty Duke’s career was launched at 8 years old when her mother, unable to cope with the kids, turned her over to talent scouts John and Ethel Ross, who saw gold in the perky young girl.
Patty Duke made her Broadway debut at 12 years old playing Helen Keller in “The Miracle Worker.”
Patty Duke rocketed to fame in the 1960’s as the star of “The Patty Duke Show,” which ran for 104 episodes over 3 seasons, and in which she played her rambunctious self as well as her more demure “identical cousin.”
At the 16 year old, Duke won the best supporting actress Academy Award 3 years later reprising her role as the young Helen in the celebrated 1962 screen adaptation of the play.
After “The Patty Duke Show” was cancelled, Patty Duke starred in the camp classic “Valley of the Dolls.”
Patty Duke won a second Emmy in 1976 for her turn in the television mini-series “Captains and the Kings.”
Patty Duke also appeared in television shows like Police Story, Hawaii 5-O, and Night Gallery.
Later, Patty Duke became an advocate for the mentally illness by working with the National Institute of Mental Health and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Patty Duke was married 4 times, most recently was married to Michael Pearce, and raised her 3 sons, 2 of whom are Sean Astin and Mackenzie Astin who followed in their mother’s footsteps and became actors as well.
Patty Duke was 69 years old and is survived by her last husband, Michael Pearce and her 3 kids.
Sean Astin, Patty Duke’s Son, also confirmed the sad news over the phone into Good Day L.A. on Fox affiliate KTTV Channel 11.

Fenner, CA: Death investigation into human bones found.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, at 3:48pm PT on Friday, March 25th, 2016, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station responded to a found bones call in the desert near Interstate 40 and Essex Road near Fenner, California.
Upon arrival, deputies met with the reporting party who was a surveyor.
The surveyor led deputies to the location of the bones.
Several bones were collected by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Coroner’s Division.
On Saturday, March 26th, 2016, the bones were identified as human.
Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail assumed the investigation and responded to the scene where the bones were found.
Homicide investigators conducted an investigation and located additional bones which were collected by the Coroner’s Division.

Breaking News!!: Lucerne Valley, CA: Multiple traffic accident with several people injured.
According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, just before 3:30pm PT on Monday, March 28th, 2016, the San Bernardino County Fire Department received reports of a traffic collision in the area of Barstow Road and Rabbit Springs Road in Lucerne Valley, California.

First arriving units reported 10 vehicles and 2 tractor trailers involved.
Crews also reported blowing dust in the area causing zero visibility.
While conducting initial patient assessment several more collisions occurred resulting in more injuries.
With additional vehicles now involved County Fire declared a mass casualty incident, which dispatched additional paramedic engines and numerous additional ground ambulances to the scene.
Initial patient count was approximately 30 injured, most of which were walking wounded.
Only 3 patients required transport , one of which sustained major injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
Two other patients were transported to St. Marys in Apple Valley.
County Fire responded with 4 paramedic engine companies, 1 paramedic ambulance, 1 battalion chief and 2 division chiefs for a total of 17 personnel.
Several AMR ambulances also assisted.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

Moments ago, management and employees at the Taco Bell in Needles, California tell ZachNews that the time of closure has been moved up from 8:00pm to 5:00pm PT so they can clean up and pick up the fast food restaurant.
The time and date has been changed and updated from the original announcement date of 10:00pm PT on Thursday, March 31st, 2016.

Breaking News!!: San Bernardino, CA: Federal Bureau of Investigation breaks into terror suspect’s iPhone without Apple’s help.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, they have successfully used a mysterious technique without Apple’s help to break into an iPhone linked to terror suspect Syed Rizwan Farook in the terrorist attack that killed 14 people at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2016.
The surprise development announced on More Monday, March 28th, 2016 effectively ends a pitched court battle between Apple and the United States of America President Barack Obama’s Administration.
The government told a federal court without any details that it accessed data on terror suspect Syed Farook’s iPhone and no longer requires Apple’s assistance.
Apple did not immediately comment on the development.

Breaking News!!: Washington, DC: Armed man shot by authorities at United States Capitol Visitor Center.
An armed man was shot by authorities after drawing what appeared to be a gun and pointed it at authorities at the United States Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, District of Columbia on Monday, March 28th, 2016.

Authorities said the man entered the center through the north street entrance of the United States Capitol Visitor Center.
The was transported to a local hospital to undergo surgery, but the man’s condition was not immediately known.
A female bystander received minor injuries and was reportedly taken to a hospital.
According to United States Capitol Police Chief Matthew Verderosa, “We believe that this is the act of a single person who has frequented the Capitol grounds before, and there is no reason to believe this is anything more than a criminal act.”
