News Alert!!: Philadelphia, PA: Man shoots a Philadelphia Police Department Officer in terrorist inspired attack.

A man is in police custody after shooting a Philadelphia Police Department Officer in a terrorist inspired attack in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The terrorist inspired shooting ambushed happened at around 11:45pm ET on Thursday, January 7th, 2016.

This picture from surveillance video show a man approached the driver’s side window of a Philadelphia Police Department patrol vehicle, pointed his gun, and shoot at the patrol vehicle hitting the Philadelphia Police Department Officer.

The Philadelphia Police Department Officer has been identified as 33 year old Jesse Hartnett, is a 5 year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, and was shoot in the arm.

After being shot, Philadelphia Police Department Officer Jesse Hartnett called on his radio, “I’m Shot” and “I’m bleeding heavily!” as he called for backup.

Despite being injured, Philadelphia Police Department Officer Jesse Hartnett reportedly got out of his patrol vehicle, chased after the suspect, and returned fire wounding the attacker in the buttocks.

Other Philadelphia Police Department Officers also chased the attacker and apprehended the attacker a short distance away from the shooting scene.

The attacker was treated at the hospital and later released into police custody.

During a news conference on Friday, January 8th, 2016, authorities spoke about the shooting attack.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross called the attack “absolutely amazing” adding that, “This is absolutely one of the scariest things I’ve ever seen, and “It’s nothing short of miraculous and we’re thankful for that.”

Philadelphia Police Department Officer Jesse Hartnett suffered extensive injuries to his arm, but authorities say he was awake and alert prior to surgery.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the suspect, identified as by authorities as 30 year old Edward Archer of Yeadon, Pennsylvania, confessed to authorities to the shooting, saying that he pledged his allegiance to ISIS, did the shooting ‘in the name of Islam’, and because law enforcement defend laws that are contrary to the Quran.

The attacker, “confessed to committing this cowardly act in the name of Islam,” said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross adding that the attacker pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group.

Authorities are saying that the gun used in the attack was a 9mm Glock 17 had been stolen from a law enforcement officer’s home in 2013, but it’s not clear how it ended up in the attack’s hand.

Authorities are saying that Edward Archer has a criminal record and both the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) and Department of Homeland Security searched the attacker’s addresses in Yeadon, Delaware County, and Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney also spoke at the news conference and said that the attacker’s apparent motives does not “represent the religion in any way, shape or form or its teachings.”
