News Update!!: Needles, CA: Small brush fire put out along westbound Interstate 40.
A small brush fire that was reported along westbound Interstate 40, just west of Needles Highway, in Needles, California has been put out.
The California Highway Patrol has the right lane of westbound Interstate 40 as well as the on ramp to westbound Interstate 40 at Needles Highway closed, but should be reopening soon.
Accounting to the California Highway Patrol’s Traffic Incident Information Page, the call of a small brush fire was reported at around 11:53am PT on Saturday, December 26th, 2015.
San Bernardino County Fire Department and Mohave Valley Fire Department were at the brush fire located next to a dry wash.
Motorists wanting to go west on Interstate 40 had to use the on ramp to westbound Interstate 40 from Park Road as a detour.
The cause of the small brush fire is under investigation, including if this was cause by a lit cigarette or somebody trying to stay warm by starting a fire.
Because of the lack of homeless facilities in Needles, California, there has been small brush fires in the past that was caused by somebody who was homeless just trying to keep warm.
A reminder to everybody, please do not throw your lit cigarette out of your vehicle in a wind storm for that can also start a small brush fire.
