Fontana, CA: Kitten rescued after being trapped inside a storm drain for over a day.

A cute little kitten was rescued by caring people after being trapped inside a storm drain in Fontana, California for reportedly more than 28 hours.

The kitten became trapped on Sunday, December 13th, 2015 in a parking lot gutter of a Costco located on the 16500 block of Sierra Lakes Parkway in Fontana, California.

Shoppers at the Costco could hear the cries from the kitten in the storm drain.


According to NBC affiliate KNBC Channel 4, All American Plumbing responded and began the process of rescuing the cat, using a snake camera and more tools.

Crews worked hard to rescued the kitten digging up the pipe.

According to NBC affiliate KNBC Channel 4, the kitten’s rescue began getting attention as pictures and updates began pouring in on David Loop’s Facebook page.

David Loop and other residents worked to bring attention to the trapped kitten from the beginning, and residents of Fontana, California had dubbed it “Operation Kitten Rescue.”


After spending more than 28 hours trapped, the kitten was finally pulled to freedom, alive and well, at around 10:30pm PT on Monday, December 14th, 2015 to cheers all over the community and across social media as people from as far as Illinois, Philadelphia, Minnesota, and Washington, District of Columbia were monitoring the progress of the rescue on Facebook.

According to NBC affiliate KNBC Channel 4, David Loop decided to adopt the kitten, leaving the survival story with a very happy ending.
