News Update!!: Needles, CA: Repairs completed and water turned on after water main break along California Avenue.
A broken water main was reported along California Avenue, just east of O Street and near Interstate 40, in Needles, California on Saturday, December 12th, 2015.
At around 12:00am PT, ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez was in route to a reported residential structure fire when he spotted lots of water flowing down O Street, over the parking lot and sidewalk of Church of Christ, and down Market Street to West Broadway in Needles, California.
After ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez contacted the City of Needles to report the broken water main, City of Needles Public Work Crews responded within a few minutes to the incident and located the broken water main at the end of California Avenue in Needles, California.
City of Needles Public Work Crews immediately turned off until the broken water main was fixed.
At 6:00am PT, work crews from City of Needles Public Work and the City of Needles Water Department began working on the broken water main.
A worker from Southwest Gas also arrived to check on the area of were the water main broke.
City of Needles Public Work Crews tell ZachNews that a “T” pipe that was abandoned and was caped broke and needed to be repaired and recapped.
After making the needed repairs and the part of the water main recapped, water was turned on at around 8:00am PT and the hole in the street where the water main break happened was recovered and reopened.
