Needles, CA: Thanking and Giving to Community for Thanksgiving Day.

The season of thanking and giving was alive and well on Thursday, November 26th, 2015 as caring and helping people from in and around the community volunteered on Thanksgiving Day to serve people from the community a wonderful and delicious Thanksgiving Dinner at several locations in and around Needles, California.

Members of both St. Ann Catholic Church and Set Free Church of Needles as well as volunteers from the community rolled up their sleeves and put on food gloves to serve Thanksgiving Dinner for Lunch to a packed room of people from all around the community at St. Ann Catholic Church in Downtown Needles, California.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez talked with George DeLeon of St. Vincent de Paul, Jimbo Lanphear, Jose Perez, and Gissla Cagnolatti about the event and giving back to the community they love dearly.

This is the second year that members of both St. Ann Catholic Church and Set Free Church of Needles had join churches to give to the community the love of a community, the love of God, and delicious turkey with all the trimmings.

Just a few blocks down the street, members of River’s Edge Community Christian Church as well as volunteers from the community also rolled up their sleeves and put on food gloves to serve Thanksgiving Dinner for Lunch to people from all around the community on Thanksgiving Day at River’s Edge Community Christian Church in Downtown Needles, California.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez talked with Pastor Fred Torres of River’s Edge Community Christian Church about the event and giving back to the community they love dearly.

This was their second year doing this event at the River’s Edge Community Christian Church location in Downtown Needles, California.

Pastor Fred Torres told ZachNews that this year a Gunnery Sgt. from the United States Marine Corps (U.S.M.C.), Twentynine Palms, California, who has done 4 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and an Airman from the Air Forces Elite Special Forces Para-Rescue serving dinner on Thanksgiving Day.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez then got to meet and talk to David Edger, Gunnery Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps, and talked about the giving back to the community they love dearly.

On the westside of Needles, California, George Edward Hamil Sr. and his family cooked up then passed out Thanksgiving Dinner boxed plates at the Westside Chevron Gas Station in Needles, California.

At least 30 to 40 Thanksgiving Dinner boxed plates were put together to give to people in the community.

At all of the events, delicious and cooked with love turkey, stuffing, salad, mashed potatoes, and dessert were served to people from the community who were without family, elderly who have no place to go, and who can’t afford to have Thanksgiving.

People who came to all of the events thanked the many volunteers who came out to give back to their community can come and share the day with us.
