News Update!!: Needles, CA: House fire on North K Street near Market Street.

According to San Bernardino County Fire Department Caption Daniel Nelson, at approximately 5:40am PT on Thursday, November 12th, 2015, fire crew from Fire Station 31 as well as fire crews from Mohave Valley Fire Department and Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Department were dispatched to a single story residential structure fire located on the 400 block of North K Street near Market Street in Needles, California.

Within 10 minutes, San Bernardino County Fire Department Firefighters and Apparatus from Fire Station 31 was first to arrive to the single story residential structure fire and found heavy flames and smoke coming from the back of the single story residential structure.

Fire crews went into attack mode on the single story residential structure fire.

Fire crews checked for victims and found no victims inside the single story residential structure.

But, San Bernardino County Fire Department Caption Daniel Nelson tells ZachNews that a firefighter, believe to have been from Mohave Valley Fire Department, suffered a knee injury on the exterior of the single story residential structure fire and was transported by Baker Emergency Medical Service to a local hospital for further evaluation.

San Bernardino County Fire Department Caption Daniel Nelson also told ZachNews that no firefighters were burn in this fire.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez captured an ambulance from Baker Emergency Medical Service behind the residential structure and heading onto Needles Highway.

Later, San Bernardino County Fire Department Caption Daniel Nelson told ZachNews over the phone that at approximately 30 minutes after ZachNews interview, a firefighter from San Bernardino County Fire Department suffered an eye injury: minor eye injury from “scratches to his eye” from falling sand well loading a fire hose back onto their fire department engine. The firefighter went to the hospital to have his eye check and is back at work.

The single story residential structure fire was put out within 20 to 30 minutes and kept to fire from spreading to other residential structures or near by vegetation.

San Bernardino County Fire Department Caption Daniel Nelson tells ZachNews that the home was suppose to have been vacant and that the utilities were already turned off on this property in early 2015. However, they’re investigating if there may have been squatters living inside the home at the time of the fire.

Fire crews did find belongings inside the home, including children toys.

An investigator was seen on scene investigation the cause of the single story residential structure fire, checking to see in the electrical meter box was damaged or was trying to be “jumped” or was trying to be reconnect utilities, and is seen walking inside the burned single story residential structure fire.

Later, San Bernardino County Fire Department Caption Daniel Nelson told ZachNews over the phone that after their investigator and utility crews form the City of Needles check the electrical meter box, there doesn’t appear to have been any damage to the electrical meter box.

Estimated damage to the single story residential structure is reportedly to be over $40,000. San Bernardino County Fire Department Caption Daniel Nelson told ZachNews over the phone that this estimated cost of damage was after speaking to Needles City Manager Rick Daniels well talking about residential properties in this area. 

North K Street from Needles Highway and Walnut Street was closed until the investigation into this single story residential structure fire was completed.

At approximately 12:30pm PT on Thursday, November 12th, 2015, North K Street from Needles Highway and Walnut Street was reopened to traffic.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez heard the emergency call, raced to the single story residential structure fire, and captured the heavy smoke and flames from the single story residential structure fire.

ZachNews has been informed by a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Deputy that he was patrolling this area at around 5:20am PT and seen no smoke.

A neighbor just right across the street from the single story residential structure seen smoke from the single story residential structure and a truck stopped across the street from the single story residential structure, but wasn’t sure if the people in the truck had anything to do with the single story residential structure fire, but did spoke to authorities and provided that information.
