News Update!!: Needles, CA: Moment of silence held and funeral services set to remember Marvin Carter.
Members of the Needles City Council and Needles Public Utility Authority held a moment of silence during the Needles City Council and Needles Public Utility Authority Meeting held on Tuesday, November 10th, 2015 to pay respect to Marvin Carter who passed away late last week.
Rev. Canon Janet Hurley, Vicar of St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Needles, California, introduced the moment of silence for Marvin Carter and that he may rest in peace.
ZachNews has learned that funeral services for Marvin Carter has been set and will be held at 11:00am PT on Saturday, November 14th, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 2001 El Monte Street in Needles, California.
Late last week, the City of Needles as well as Needles City Council Members have confirmed to ZachNews that Marvin Carter, retired City of Needles Code Enforcement Officer, passed away on Thursday, November 5th, 2015 reportedly from cancer.
Marvin Carter lived and worked in Needles, California as a Police Department Officer when the City of Needles had a police department, for Santa Fe Railroad, and for the City of Needles as a Code Enforcement Officer.
Marvin Carter reportedly retired from Needles Code Enforcement stating health reasons.
Dale Jones with the City Clerk’s Office at the City of Needles confirmed to ZachNews that Marvin Carter retired from Needles Code Enforcement.
When not working, Marvin Carter loved to fish and according to his Facebook Page, “live to fish/ fish to live” was Marvin Carter’s favorite quote.
Marvin Carter reportedly passed away at around 12:30pm PT on Thursday, November 5th, 2015.
Needles City Council Member Shawn Gudmundson wrote on his Facebook Page, “Our community lost another good man yesterday. Sad to report the passing of Marvin Carter Sr. Marvin was a longtime Needles resident, coach, deputy sheriff, and code enforcement officer who gave many year’s devoting his time to make our community better for all. Our thoughts and prayers to his family and loved one’s.”

On Marvin Carter’s Facebook Page, the passing broke in the following statement from Shannon Carter at 2:45pm PT on Thursday, November 5th, 2015, “To all who knew Marvin. My amazing husband, defender, and soulmate lost the battle against cancer today.. Father, Grandfather, Brother, Brother-in-law, Uncle, Friend…..he was everything to us! Celebrate everyday you have with your loved ones. Til the day you call me and we meet again my love……Shannon”.
Messages of condolences for Marvin Carter have continue to posted on both the Memories of Needles Past and Present’s Facebook Page as well as on Marvin Carter’s Facebook Page.
“Marvin was a stand up kind of guy. He will be greatly miss by all. He gladly helped me one time when I was in a predicament,” wrote Marianne Willis Jones.
“My heartfelt condolances go out today to Shannon and her family. I am so sorry for the loss of such a loved being. Marvin was a beautiful example of an older brother. I learned a part of our Saviour’s love through his numerous examples. Marvin, we will miss you, until we meet again,” wrote John David Carter.
