Needles, CA: Operation Boo!! Sex Offender Compliance Operation.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, on Saturday, October 31, 2015, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station, in Needles, California with the assistance of the San Bernardino County Probation Department, conducted a Sex Offender Compliance Operation, in conjunction with Operation Boo.

This state-wide operation helps heighten awareness of the ways to protect children from sexual abuse.

The Halloween afternoon operation involved checking seven probationers for compliance of their parole and probation terms.

At about 2:35pm PT, deputies contacted registered sex offender and probationer, 35 year old Jerrod Blay at his home in the 1200 block of Cherry Drive in Needles, California.

Jerrod Blay was taken into police custody for a violation of his probation terms and was booked at the Colorado River Station Jail and has no bail set at this time.

At about 4:40pm PT, deputies contacted registered sex offender and probationer, 26 years old Daniel Hernandez at his home in the 300 block of Sunrise Trail in Havasu Lake, California.

After a short foot pursuit, Daniel Hernandez was taken into police custody.

Daniel Hernandez was booked for a violation of his probation terms and resulting from failing to register as a sex offender, and has no bail set at this time.

Both of these subjects were discovered to be on supervised probation for sex offenses as a result of California Assembly Bill 109.

As part of California Governor Jerry Brown’s Realignment Plan, or Assembly Bill 109, to comply with a United States Supreme Court decision requiring the state to lower its prison population by 30,000; offenders with non-violent, non-serious, or non-high-risk sex offenses will serve reduced sentences in county jails and be placed on local supervision through county probation.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and Probation Department are dedicated to public safety.

These enforcement operations are conducted in an effort to better serve the communities they protect.

These operations will be ongoing throughout the areas patrolled by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station, in Needles, California.
