The man found dead inside a vehicle buried in mud on Tuesday, October 20th, 2015 in Palmdale, California was identified on Wednesday, October 21st, 2015.

According to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner Coroner’s Office, the man was identified as 49 year old Robert Rasmussen of Palmdale, California.
The area was inundated last week with mud and flooding following powerful storms that hit the area Thursday, October 15th, 2015.
Authorities and first responders are at the scene of a body that was found inside a vehicle in Palmdale, California that was buried in 6 feet of mud reportedly from the recent storm and resulting mudslide last week.
According to NBC affiliate KNBC Channel 4, Robert Rasmussen, a house-painter who lived in Rosamond, California was house-sitting for his mother and step-father in the area, his step-father said. His family only heard about his death early Wednesday morning after returning from a trip to Israel.
Several area residents said they had told firefighters about the SUV vehicle in the mud last week and through the weekend.
Neighbors want more to be done after this tragic death of a man found dead in 6 feet of mud.
Palmdale City Manager James Purtee and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are saying that nobody reported Robert Rasmussen missing and the area’s conditions made a search difficult.
City of Palmdale Officials said they are evaluating procedures to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
Residents and strangers have dropped off flowers at the site where the man was found.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the vehicle was found at about 12:50pm PT on Tuesday, October 20th, 2015 on the 41800 block of Karen Drive in Palmdale, California.
Homicide detectives were investigating the death of the person inside the buried S.U.V. vehicle.

According to NBC affiliate KNBC Channel 4, neighbors in the area said they’ve know since Thursday that at least one car with someone inside was buried in mud.
The clean continues from the powerful storm and resulting mudslide that happened on Thursday, October 15th, 2015 from Castaic, California area to the Leona Valley, California area, and near Mojave, California along State Route 58.
