– According to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 9, State Route 58 near Tehachapi, California will be reopened at 8:00pm PT on Wednesday, October 21st, 2015.

– According to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 9, State Route 58 is still closed and is projected to reopen on Thursday, October 22nd, 2015.

Work crews are still hauling mud, cleaning drainage, and sweeping roadway.

** As of 10:00pm PT on Sunday, October 18th, 2015: **

– Los Angeles County Department of Public Works Crews reopened several roads ahead at 5:00pm PT on Sunday. At least 60 Los Angeles County Public Works Personnel worked through the weekend using more than 40 front loaders, bulldozers, and dump trucks to clear the mess.

**** The following county roads were scheduled to reopen Sunday: ****

– Elizabeth Lake Road from Godde Hill Road to Lake Hughes Road

– Godde Hill Road from the Palmdale, California city limit to Elizabeth Lake Road

– San Francisquito Canyon Road from Elizabeth Lake Road to Dry Gulch Road

– Bouquet Canyon Road from Elizabeth Lake Road to north of Vasquez Canyon Road

– Spunky Canyon Road

– San Francisquito Canyon Road and Bouquet Canyon Road

**** In addition, the following roads that were closed in Palmdale, California were reopened: ****

– Avenue N between 10th Street W. and Sierra Highway

– Avenue M-8 between 60th Street W. and 65th Street W.

– Elizabeth Lake Road from Ranch Center Drive into Leona Valley, California

**** Los Angeles County Department of Public Works Crews were still working to reopen the following 2 stretches of roadway: ****

– Munz Ranch Road between Elizabeth Lake Road and Lancaster Road

– Lake Hughes Road from Elizabeth Lake Road to Dry Gulch

Several other unincorporated communities affected by the storm, such as in Palmdale, California and in Lancaster, California were working to clear the mud and debris.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works advises motorists to continue to move at reduced speeds as roads in certain areas would still likely be covered in mud and water.

The Hughes-Elizabeth Lakes Union Elementary School District will be open Monday, October 19th, 2015.

** As of 11:00pm PT on Friday, October 16th, 2015: **

– All northbound lanes of Interstate 5 has been reopened and 2 lanes of southbound Interstate 5 have been reopened in the Grapevine, California area.

The 2 lanes of southbound Interstate 5, along with the truck bypass lanes, remain closed for clean up.

Motorists in the Los Angeles, California area tried to find alternate routes after mudslides closed Interstate 5 and even with the reopening of northbound Interstate 5 and some lanes of southbound Interstate 5, traffic remains slow.

According to the California Highway Patrol, at least 115 cars and 75 trucks are stuck on the highways between Mojave, California and Tehachapi, California.

State Route 58 near Tehachapi, California is closed after a flood of mud had hundreds of vehicles stuck in feet of mud.

According to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 9, State Route 58 will remain closed through the weekend.

– The northbound and southbound sides of the Interstate 5 were expected to remain closed throughout the night as crews continued working on a river of mud that was triggered by severe thunderstorms on Thursday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, both directions of Interstate 5 is expected to be closed until Friday evening.

Several drivers were trapped as mud, rocks, and debris rushed across the interstate.

The powerful severe thunderstorms that brought heavy rain and hail hit the area at around 3:00pm PT on Thursday, October 15th, 2015.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Route State 58 and sections of State Route 14 was also closed in the Mojave, California area in Kern County, California due to flooding.

Authorities are advising southbound motorists to take State Route 41 or State Route 166 to southbound U.S. Highway 101 to eastbound State Route 126.

Authorities are advising northbound motorists to exit the Interstate 5 and take westbound State Route 126 to the U.S. Highway 101 north.

– All lanes of Interstate 5 in Castaic, California is closed due to flash flooding from heavy rain fall and reported hail in the area from a slow passing storm.

Los Angeles County Fire Department rescue crews responded to a report of some people trapped in a vehicle in the area, but they were found safe.

Los Angeles County Fire Department Air Operations reportedly has 3 paramedic helicopters conducting rescue operations in the Antelope Valley, California area.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the all northbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Castaic, California will be closed for 24 hours due to flooding and mud on the interstate.
