News Alert!!: Barstow, CA: Freight train versus vehicle collision.
A freight train crashed into a vehicle at a railroad crossing on Hinkley Road near Jiggs Road in Barstow, California.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at around 10:50am PT on Saturday, October 10th, 2015 when a truck tractor with a lowbed trailer carrying military equipment attempted to cross the railroad tracks, became stuck on the railroad tracks, and the driver attempted to free the truck tractor with a lowbed trailer, but was unable to.
The railroad crossing arms began to come down and the occupies, 2 adults male and a 2 year old boy, exited safely from the truck tractor with a lowbed trailer.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the truck tractor with a lowbed trailer was hit by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train sustained minor damage, but both the truck tractor and lowbed trailer sustained major damage, but the military equipment sustained little to no damage.
Nobody was reportedly injured in the collision and the incident was cleared hours later.
The collision is under investigating by the California Highway Patrol, but drugs or alcohol are not suspected in this collision.
