News Alert!!: Needles, CA: Schools placed on lockdown due to B.B. Gun.
Schools around Needles, California were placed on a lockdown on Monday, October 5th, 2015 because a student brought a b.b. gun to school.
According to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Jodi Miller, at approximately 8:40am PT on Monday, October 5th, 2015, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Needles Middle School following the report of a b.b. gun being located at the school by the principal.
Needles High School and Vista Elementary School in Needles, California were placed on lockdown.
According to the Needles Unified School District, parents of students were alerted about the lockdown.
The investigation revealed the student brought an unloaded B.B. gun to school and showed it to his friends.
The student attempted to hide the gun in a cafeteria sprinkler valve box, but the B.B. gun was located by school staff and given to the investigators.
After an extensive investigation, the lockdown was lifted and students returned to regular school activities.
The 11 year old male student was arrested and later released to his father.
The student was cited for PC 626.10(a) Bringing or Possessing Weapons on School Grounds.
