News Alert!!: Yucca Valley, CA: School buses and vehicles collision.
According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, at 7:00am PT on Friday, September 25th, 2015, San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a reported traffic collision at the intersection of La Contenta Road and Yucca Trail in Yucca Valley, California involving two school buses and two passenger vehicles.
Upon arrival, firefighters quickly set up triage and started evaluating all occupants for injuries.
There were approximately 70 middle school students on the school buses.
At least 4 students sustained minor injury; 2 students were transported to a local hospital by Morongo Basin Ambulance and 2 other students were released to their parents.
The driver and sole occupant of a pickup truck was found deceased.
There were no injuries to the occupant of the second passenger vehicle.
The uninjured students were transported to La Contenta Middle School.
At least 16 San Bernardino County Fire Department Firefighters with 3 engines, 2 ambulances, and a Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
Morongo Basin Ambulance also responded to assist.
The cause of the accident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
San Bernardino County Fire reminds motorists to safely slow down, pull to the right, and stop whenever they see emergency vehicles approaching.
