News Update!!: San Bernardino, CA: Congressional Badge of Bravery Metals awarded to 4 San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Deputies.

The Congressional Badge of Bravery were awarded to 4 San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Deputies during a Congressional Badge of Bravery Ceremony being held at 9:00am PT on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2015 at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Headquarters located at 655 East Third Street in San Bernardino, California.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department John McMahon joined Congressional Badge of Bravery Ceremony as United States Representatives Pete Aguilar, Ken Calvert and Paul Cook as they awarded the Congressional Badge of Bravery to Detective Larry Lopez, Detective Justin Musella, Deputy Daniel Rosa, and Deputy Arturo Ramirez.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Detective Larry Lopez, Detective Justin Musella, and Deputy Daniel Rosa will be awarded the Congressional Badge of Bravery for their heroic actions to save the lives fellow deputies during a shootout with Christopher Dorner on Tuesday, February 12th, 2013.

After, Detectives Alex Collins and Jeremiah MacKay were seriously wounded by the assailant, Detective Larry Lopez, Detective Justin Musella, and Deputy Daniel Rosa coordinated a plat to provide concealment sot that the injured deputies could be extracted.

Once a smoke screen was deployed, all 3 deputies left their positions of cover, exposing themselves to the assailant’s gunfire, and dragged Detectives Alex Collins and Jeremiah MacKay to safer positions.

Despite their efforts, Detective Jeremiah MacKay succumbed to his injuries.

On Saturday, June 15th, 2013, Deputy Arturo Ramirez was dispatched to a fire at an apartment in Victorville, California.

Upon arriving on scene. Deputy Arturo Ramirez was advised that occupants of the apartment were trapped inside.

Realizing that the fire was growing quickly, Deputy Arturo Ramirez ran inside the structure and rescued 4 residents, including a 5 month old and a toddler.

Once outside, the occupants notified Deputy Arturo Ramirez that another younger child was trapped inside.

Again, Deputy Arturo Ramirez rushed inside the apartment and successfully extracted the young girl who was reunited with her family.
