News Update!!: Downtown Needles, CA: Latest information regarding Burger Hut restaurant.
It has been over a year since the Burger Hut restaurant had their roof blow off during a powerful microburst that hit Needles, California at around 4:00pm PT on Tuesday, August 12th, 2014 closing the popular burger joint down.
Many residents, businesses, and travelers have been asking around the community and even to ZachNews if anybody knows what is going to happen to the Burger Hut restaurant.
Well, there may be some good news coming in regards to cleaning up the property, rehabilitate that building, and put it back into operation.
During the Needles City Council Meeting held on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2015 inside the Needles City Council Chambers in Needles, California, Needles City Manager Rick Daniels gave an update on what is happening with the Burger Hut restaurant saying, “First Burger Hut – which had storm damage approximately a year ago – we worked with the property owner in a very patient matter for about 6 to 7 months as we believed that she was making progress towards reintroducing that operation. About 6 weeks ago, we became frustrated with that and began to site as violations of the Code with this high profile piece of property on Broadway… and that had the desire affect. We met with the property owner earlier this week. In 3 weeks, she intense to bring in plans to rehabilitate that building and put it back into operation; either by her or another vendor. Code Enforcement worked.”

The move to get Needles Code Enforcement involved to help get this burger joint back open began during the Needles City Council Meeting held on Tuesday, May 26th, 2015 inside the Needles City Council Chambers in Needles, California.
Needles City Manager Rick Daniels informed members of the Needles City Council of what’s the City of Needles is going to do regarding the Burger Hut restaurant in Downtown Needles, California.
Needles City Manager Rick Daniels told members of the Needles City Council that the City of Needles has been working with the property owner and until recently, were insured that they were going to rebuild and re-establish the business, and were even shown construction layout plans of what the owner wanted to do in rebuilding the Burger Hut restaurant. But, according to Needles City Manager Rick Daniels, we’re in a Code Enforcement issue and that we have not seen action on the property so it is shifted into Code Enforcement mode.
Needles City Manager Rick Daniels told members of the Needles City Council that the City of Needles wants the owner of the Burger Hut restaurant to either rebuild and re-establish the business, which the City of Needles wants, or “tear it down” for the property cannot be left in the condition it remains today.
ZachNews has reached out to the owner of the Burger Hut restaurant to find out what is going to happen to the Burger Hut restaurant, but has never responded.
ZachNews was told by the owners of the Burger Hut restaurant, days after the storm hit, that the Burger Hut restaurant was going to rebuild and was planning to in-close the outside dining area, add new landscaping around the property, and add new cooking equipment as they restore this popular burger joint that locals and travelers riding along historic and world famous Route 66 would stop on in and get a hot burger, fresh french fries, and cold milkshakes in their classic cars or trucks.
Many people in and around the community are hoping that the Burger Hut restaurant gets rebuild and reopen as soon as possible.
