The earthquake struck approximately 7 miles south-southeast of Big Bear Lake, California.

Residents reported feeling shaking from the earthquake in Victorville, California; Loma Linda, California; Perris, California; Aliso Viejo, California; and Pasadena, California.

Earlier, the United States Geological Survey initially estimated the earthquake as a magnitude 4.5, but the temblor was downgraded to a magnitude 4.0 later.
