Breaking News!!: Illapel, Chile: Magnitude 8.3 Earthquake and Tsunami Alert.

A powerful magnitude 8.3 earthquake has shook Santiago, Chile at around 3:54 p.m. PT on Wednesday, September 16th, 2015.

The earthquake has caused buildings to sway and people to take refuge in the streets.

Several strong aftershocks hit within minutes as tsunami alarms sounded in the nearby port of Valparaiso, Chile.

Reports of any damages, injuries, and deaths are slowly coming in as communications were disrupted.

Reports of any damages, injuries, and deaths are slowly coming in as communications were disrupted.

At this moment, at least 3 people are reported dead.

Chilean Authorities has issued a Tsunami Alert for the country’s entire coast.

Chile’s Emergency Office warned that big waves caused by the quake could hit the coast by 11:00pm PT.

Officials in Chile have notice a raise of the ocean water of 10 feet which United States Officials and Geologists are monitoring very closely the approaching waves.

The National Tsunami Warning Center issued a Tsunami Advisory at around 6:43pm PT for the coastline of California.

The Tsunami Advisory is from San Onofre State Beach in San Clemente, California to Ragged Point, California.

The Tsunami Advisory includes coastline beaches and harbors in Orange County, California; Los Angeles County, California; Ventura County, California; Santa Barbara County, California, and San Luis Obispo County, California.

According to the National Tsunami Warning Center, waves should reach the California coastline in the morning of Thursday, September 17th, 2015.

– Newport Beach, California at 4:46am PT at less then 1 feet

– Los Angeles Harbor at 4:47am PT at less then 1 feet.

– Santa Barbara, California at 5:06am PT at less then 1 feet.

– Port San Luis, California at 5:10am PT at less then 1 feet.

** Out of caution, the National Tsunami Warning Center is asking the public is asked to stay away from the coastline and harbors during that time of the wave to hit. **

Local news outlets in Hawaii reporting that a Tsunami Advisory has been issued for Hawaii, but was earlier under a Tsunami Watch.

Emergency Officials in Hawaii are saying that a major tsunami not expected to hit Hawaii in the morning of Thursday, September 17th, 2015.

The United States Geological Survey initially reported the quake at a preliminary magnitude 7.9, but quickly revised the reading upward to magnitude 8.3.

United States Officials said the earthquake struck just offshore in the Pacific Ocean at 7:54pm PT and was centered about 141 miles (228 kilometers) north-northwest of Santiago, Chile.
