Baker, CA: Suspect arrested in the murder of Ernest Ortega Huerta.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 10:00am PT on Thursday, August 27, 2015, following a five month investigation, detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Detail identified Angel Hernandez as the suspect in the murder of Ernest Ortega Huerta.
Detectives contacted Angel Hernandez at his residence in Baker, California, and following an interview at the Barstow Sheriff’s Station, Angel Hernandez was booked into the Barstow Jail on a charge of murder.
At approximately 8:23am PT on Thursday, March 19, 2015, Caltrans workers grading the shoulder of State Highway 127 near mile marker 31 discovered Ernest Ortega Huerta deceased in the open desert.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol and deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Baker Station responded to the location.
Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Detail were requested to the location and assumed the investigation.
Ernest Ortega Huerta’s death was determined to be a homicide.
