News Update!!: Highland, CA: Search continues for “Person of Interest” in the homicide of a child.

Authorities continue to search for a “Person of Interest” in the homicide of a child who was killed by a gunshot well playing in his neighborhood in Highland, California.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, at 8:28pm PT on Wednesday, July 29th, 2015, deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to a report of shots heard in the 7400 block of McKinley Street, in Highland, California. Upon arrival they discovered the victim, identified as 4 year old Daniel Muñoz, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The child was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The child was with cousins and an aunts in a front yard when he was fatally wounded.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department began a search for the shooter or shooters who shot at least 12 gunshots in the neighborhood.

Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail responded to the scene and are conducting the investigation.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, investigators have identified a person of interest, described as a Hispanic male, early 20’s, 5’8” to 5’11, 160 – 180 pounds, and are asking anyone who may have been in or around the area to contact investigators. Investigators are also looking for a 1990’s, 4 door Toyota Camry, white in color with black bumpers on the front and back.
