Breaking News!!: Las Vegas, NV: Fire at Cosmopolitan Hotel.

A fire was reported on the Bamboo Pool Deck at the Cosmopolitan Hotel located at 3708 Las Vegas Boulevard in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The fire was reported about 12:15pm PT on Saturday, July 25th, 2015.

Guest of the Cosmopolitan Hotel were evacuated as first responders rushed to the fire.

According to Clark County Fire Department, a person was injured and was transported to a hospital, and a person who suffered smoke inhalation was evaluated on the scene and was not hospitalized.

At least 110 fire department firefighters battled this 2 Alert Fire at the Cosmopolitan Hotel.

Many people around the Las Vegas, Nevada area could seeing the fire and smoke and began to take pictures of the fire and smoke.

Many people also began to record the fire at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and post the video onto Twitter and on YouTube.

According to Fire Chief Greg Cassell, the fire was successfully extinguished a half hour after firefighters arrived, and firefighters successfully prevented the fire from reaching the building, but some smoke reached the inside the building due to guests opening their balcony doors to see the fire.

Guest of the Cosmopolitan Hotel will be soon be allow to go back inside the hotel.

Because of the fire, the Harmon Avenue was closed, and Las Vegas Boulevard was closed from Flamingo Avenue to Tropicana Avenue, but have since been reopened.

According to Fire Chief Greg Cassell, what was burning were all exterior and, “It was the pool area, the cabanas, the furniture, the landscaping, the things around the pool that would be combustible.”

The Cosmopolitan Hotel released a statement regarding the fire saying, “At this time we can confirm that the fire at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas at Bamboo Pool at the West End tower has been contained and put out. The fire started at approximately 12:15 p.m. PDT. There were no serious injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Guests were alerted to the situation by our team of safety professionals and our comprehensive emergency responsive program, and proper evacuation procedures were used. At The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas the safety and security of our guests and CoStars is our first priority.”

According to Clark County Fire Department, the cause of the fire is under investigation, but there are some reports that a lit cigarette may have started this fire.
