Needles, CA: Needles City Council Members approved extend and restating contract with Development Management Group.
Members of the Needles City Council approved 5 to 1 abstain, during the Needles City Council Meeting held on Tuesday, July 14th, 2015, to extend and restating the contract with Development Management Group and Michael Bracken for economic development services for the 2015-2016 fiscal year.
According to information from the City of Needles, in late 2013, the City of Needles selected Development Management Group through a competitive process to undertake economic development activities on behalf of the City of Needles. Since that time, much has been accomplished and the groundwork has been laid for the upcoming years. The effort for 2015-2016 is focused on achieving the City Council Goals.
According to information from the City of Needles, accomplishments included Preparation of the Economic Development Strategic Plan, Demographic and Retail Market Analysis, Facilitated $20,000 of Burlington Northern Santa Fe (B.N.S.F.) rentals of the El Garces, Facilitating Amtrak Lease at the El Garces, (Pending before Amtrak for 2″legal review), Facilitated the land agreement for the Chamber Building, Facilitated the 99 Cent store, Recruited a used car/boat dealership, Developed display booth and other marketing materials, Developed the “Inland Port” project including seeking financial support from United States Department of Commerce, Developed the economic analysis for Bureau Bay and Golf Course, and Conducted marketing efforts at the International Council of Shopping Centers (I.C.S.C.) and other regional events.
According to information from the City of Needles, current recruitment projects includes Federal Detention Facility, Tourist serving businesses, Renewable Energy Development, Grocery Store, and General retail.
As for the fiscal impact, according to information from the City of Needles, the $70,000 appropriation for 2014-2015 was under spent by $27,000 (30%). The adopted 2015-16 budget includes a $50,000 appropriation for this effort.

Resident David Buckley spoke against the extend and restating of the contract with Development Management Group and Michael Bracken for what David Buckley said alleges in anti competitive acts, but David Buckley did not give any further details or information.
ZachNews has repeatedly for a year asked David Buckley for proof of his claims and what he said is “anti competitive acts” done by Development Management Group and Michael Bracken, but over a year later, ZachNews has never gotten any information of proof against against Development Management Group and Michael Bracken on what he said is “anti competitive acts”, and has even been threaten ZachNews for refusing to post his alleged claims and illegal acts he said are happening.
