News Update!!: Washington, DC: All clear at the Navy Yard.

ZachNews has the latest information regarding the reports of a shooting at a Navy Yard in Washington, District of Columbia that happened at around 8:00am ET on Thursday, July 2nd, 2015.

** As of 7:07am PT on Thursday, July 2nd, 2015: **

– The Senate Sergeant At Arms has tweeted on Twitter, “U.S. Capitol Police have concluded their investigation of the Washington #NavyYard incident. The incident is all clear.”

The Washington D.C. Police Department has confirmed that after a search of the area and buildings, no active shooter, no gun, and no evidence of a shooting found at the Navy Yard in Washington, District of Columbia.

Awaiting a press conference will be happening soon by possibly the Untied States Navy Official regarding the reported shooting at a Navy Yard.

– The Washington D.C. Police Department Chief is saying that no active shooter, no gun, and no evidence of a shooting found at the Navy Yard in Washington, District of Columbia.

Authorities are still saying that employees are to still “Shelter In Place” as authorities sweep the Navy Yard area that is still on a lockdown.

There are some streets being reopened including 11th Street and South Capital Street are reopened.

Some law enforcement personals are seen leaving the area.

– Authorities have cleared a commercial building located at 300 M Street near 4th Street after reports of 2 people were seen running on the roof.

Authorities are interviewing the person who made the report.

** As of 6:35am PT on Thursday, July 2nd, 2015: **

– Authorities are saying that there has been no active shooter has been found yet at the Navy Yard in Washington, District of Columbia, but employees are still being told to “Shelter In Place” as authorities sweep the area that is still on a lockdown.

Authorities are at a commercial building located at 300 M Street near 4th Street and have cleared the public and media from that area of this building and authorities have been seen running inside that building armed.

** As of 6:15am PT on Thursday, July 2nd, 2015: **

– Authorities are on scene at Navy Yard in Washington, District of Columbia for a report of a shooting at around 8:00am ET on Thursday, July 2nd, 2015.

It is is not clear where on the Navy Yard campus the shooting took place, but many local news reports are reporting that the building involve is Navy Yard’s Building 197, which in September 2013, military contractor Aaron Alexis killed 12 civilian workers at the Navy Yard’s Building 197 before he was fatally shot by authorities.

Navy Spokesman Petty Officer 1st Class Pedro Rodriguez has confirmed the Navy Yard is on lockdown and employees have been told to shelter in place.

The United States Navy ‏tweeted on Twitter, “#NavyYard lockdown remains. More to follow. @NavalDistWash @CNICHQ”.

Many law enforcement personnel from Metropolitan Police Department, SWAT Teams, and United States Park Police Department are responding and searching the area.

Navy Spokesman and Washington D.C. Fire Department is reporting that there has been no injuries, no deaths, and no shooter found yet.

South Capitol Street SE from M Street to I Street SE and 11th Street SE from M Street to Virginia Avenue SE are closed due to the large police response.

Metro Transit Police confirm Metro is not affected at this time.

Washington, District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser tweeted on Twitter, “Monitoring reports of an incident at Navy Yard. Will provide updates.”

The Navy Yard, in southeast Washington, District of Columbia, is the country’s oldest naval installation.
