At least 2 news crews in the Embarcadero area of San Francisco, California early in the morning on Thursday, July 2nd, 2015 by 3 suspects with one of the 3 suspects captured on camera.
Authorities are saying that Fox affiliate KTVU Channel 2 and NBC affiliate KNTV Channel 11 were covering a news story at Pier 14 when robbers threw a NBC affiliate KNTV Channel 11 cameraman to the ground and pistol whipped him during a live broadcast by competitor Fox affiliate KTVU Channel 2 at about 6:00am PT on Thursday, July 2nd, 2015.
At this moment, no injuries were reported and no shots were fired, but an ammo magazine from a gun was left behind.
The robber drove away in a black BMW 7-series with 2 cameras and 2 tripods from stations Fox affiliate KTVU Channel 2 and NBC affiliate KNTV Channel 11 which the losses are estimated in the tens of thousands of dollars.
The robbery took place where a woman was shot and killed on Wednesday, July 1st, 2015.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, the woman was transported to San Francisco General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
San Francisco Police Department Officers flooded the area and detained a subject matching the description of a “possible person of interest” on the corner of Embarcadero and Townsend Street which that individual is currently being investigated.
The San Francisco Police Department investigators are reviewing video of the incident provided by the television stations.
San Francisco Police Department described the 3 suspects as black males who were all wearing dark clothing, and at least one of the suspects had dreadlocks.
A picture of one of 3 suspects who robbed a television news crew was released to the public.
