Breaking News!!: Needles, CA: Bureau of Reclamation Water Conservation Grant Approved.
ZachNews has received some information regarding a Bureau of Reclamation Water Conservation grant that was recently approved which will help reduce our cost at the golf course, known as River Edge Golf Course in Needles, California, and will help with the mandated water reduction imposed by the State of California.
In this message by Needles City Council Member Shawn Gudmundson originally from Needles City Manager Rick Daniels, “It is exciting to report that the U.S. Department of Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation, Denver Water Authority, Southern Nevada Water Authority, Central Arizona Project, IMPERIAL Irrigation District, and Metropolitan Water District, have jointly decided to fund our request of approximately $500,000 to remove 40% of the turf at the golf course and replace it with desert landscaping. This will greatly upgrade the golf course as well as dramatically reduce water usage. David Brownlee and Dennis Callaway, assisted by Merrill-Johnson, City Engineer have been working on this for nearly a year. They are sending us an award letter shortly. We will need to develop a more detailed Implementation plan which includes tasks, and deliverables in the next few weeks. Additionally, agreements among the partners will need execution. We are looking at a July ‘August start.”
