Downtown Needles, CA: Working on the lighting system for the old railroad cantilever signal.
Work is underway on the lighting system for the signal lights on top of the old railroad cantilever signal displayed over G Street near Front Street in Downtown Needles, California.
Cliff Greable, Tim Wahlstrand, Robert Benoit, and Marc Richards who all work in Public Works, Utilities, and Wastewater Departments for the City of Needles are working hard on the lighting system high above over G Street.
G Street between Front Street and H Street is closed because of the work on the lighting system.
The hope is to have the lights working by tonight or before the end of the week.
** Old Railroad Cantilever Signal Project Recap: **
The old railroad cantilever signal that was donated to the City of Needles in 2013 after being found along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (B.N.S.F.) railroad line on the far west end of Needles, California.
The Friends of the Needles Centennial and the Needles City Council worked together on moving this project forward in early 2014.
City of Needles Public Works Department Crews on Monday, October 20th, 2014 dig out the hole for the foundation of the old railroad cantilever signal and built the base to hold up the old railroad cantilever signal which the signal part of the old railroad cantilever signal will be hanging over G Street facing West Broadway and Downtown Needles, California.
