A Special Needles City Council Meeting regarding Vision and Strategic Planning was held on Monday, January 26th, 2015 inside the Media Room at Palo Verde Community College Needles Branch in Downtown Needles, California.

Members of the Needles City Council worked to vocalize their vision as to where they want Needles, California to be in the next coming years and setting goals for the next 2 years they want to see happen.

During the Special Needles City Council Meeting, members of the Needles City Council worked to establish goals, objectives, establish an environmental scan, identifying what they think are the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (S.W.O.T.) with the local city government of the City of Needles and the whole community of Needles, California, and develop a mission statement about the community.

– Assets to Succeed

– Niche: Old Town, El Garces, Theater, Palo Verde College, Route 66, Colorado River, Parks, Tour Bus Destination)

Members of the Needles City Council put together the goals for the next 2 years which included: Financial Stability; Develop Route 66; Interstate 40 and U.S. 95 Connector Project; Develop and Market Historic Needles; Increase Business, Revenues, and Population; Work On Bureau Bay, Overnight Zones for Recreational Vehicle (R.V.) Visitors; Special Events Along Colorado River; Improve Public Safety; Acknowledging Community’s Reduce Crime and Being A Safe Community; Cooperation With Colorado River Tri-State Communities; and Working With Fort Mojave Indian Tribe.

 

Members of the Needles City Council put together a mission statement about the community.

Members of the Needles City Council’s mission statement said, “Needles is a friendly family oriented community in which to live, work, and play along the Colorado River where the historical past comes alive.”

 

The information collected from this Special Needles City Council Meeting will be put together in an action plan which will be submitted to the members of the Needles City Council for their concurrence.

 

Some members of the Needles City Council express the need to listen to the community and their in puts and concerns they have about their community and their local city government at the City of Needles as well as what the community wants to see happen.
