News Update!!: Ludlow, CA: Hazardous spill on Interstate 40 near Ludlow, California.

According to the San Bernadino County Fire Department, a semi truck carrying 48,000 gallons of methane natural gas crashed into the center divider along Interstate 40 just 2 miles west of Ludlow, California at around 3:30am PT Wednesday morning.

A semi truck reportedly drifted into the median, landed in a ditch, and overturned spilling the gas.

Near by residents reported smelling the spilled gas, but emergency crews did not issue any evacuations orders for those residents.

Interstate 40 was closed in both directions as San Bernardino County Fire Department, HazMat Crews, and the California Highway Patrol were on scene.

Caltrans had Interstate 40 shut down until pass 12:00pm PT Wednesday between Hector Road and Ludlow Road.

This straight of Interstate 40 is heavily traveled by semi trucks as well as tourist traveling between Barstow, California to Needles, California across the Mojave Desert of San Bernadino County, California.
