News Update!!: Needles, CA: Updated information regarding the Southwest Gas outage in Needles, California.

 

According to Southwest Gas at 3:30pm PT, “SWG is in the process of restoring service in Needles. To restore service, Southwest Gas personnel and contractors must first turn OFF each customer meter so that customer natural gas facilities will be protected while Southwest Gas repressurizes its system. Once system pressures are restored, SWG personnel will visit each home again, and turn on service. An adult over 18 years of age must be at home for service to be restored. Southwest Gas will make multiple visits to attempt to restore service. After the last attempt, SWG will leave a door tag with the phone number to call to request a service call.”

 

Southwest Gas has updated the amount of customers affected in the Southwest Gas outage. Now, Southwest Gas is saying that approximately 2,019 customers are affected.

 

ZachNews has received an email from Stephen Miller, Analyst I, Communications at Southwest Gas Corporation regarding the gas outage in Needles, California.

 

Earlier at around 12:51pm PT. ZachNews received an email from Stephen Miller, Analyst I, Communications at Southwest Gas Corporation regarding the gas outage in Needles, California.

 

“The outage is affecting approximately 2,230 customers in Needles, though 1,800 are active customers. There as a malfunction on the part of our supplier in the area. Crews have begun the process of restoring service, which requires Southwest Gas personnel and contractors to first turn OFF each customer meter so that customer natural gas facilities will be protected while Southwest Gas repressurizes its system. Once system pressures are restored, SWG personnel will visit each home again, and turn on service,” said Stephen Miller, Analyst I, Communications at Southwest Gas Corporation.

 

Source tells ZachNews that the gas may be back on sometime late tonight or early Thursday, however, the gas company has to go area to each customer and relight the pilots by law.

 

A command center for Southwest Gas has been set up near the intersection of East Broadway and Goodwill Street in Needles, California.

 

Work crews have been seen during in and out of the command center heading all around the community working on the problem.
