Needles, CA: Proposed bus system that would connect Needles, California to Bullhead City, Arizona.

Members of the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe and Arizona Department of Transportation (A.D.O.T.) Representatives held public meetings in around the Colorado River Tri-State in January 2014 in effort to collect comments and opinions from both members of the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe and the public regarding a proposed bus system that would connect Needles, California to Bullhead City, Arizona reportedly on the Fort Mojave Indian Reservation.

In conjunction with the Arizona Department of Transportation (A.D.O.T.), the proposed bus service would connect with the Bullhead Area Transit System (B.A.T.S.) in Bullhead City, Arizona to the Needles Area Transit (N.A.T.) bus system in Needles, California.

Those who ZachNews spoke with in the community wished they knew about this public meeting regarding a proposed bus service, but say that it would be a good idea for the community and opens the town to more shopping, business, medical, and entertainment opportunities up the Colorado River.

Some hope that this proposed bus service would connect to the El Garces building in Downtown Needles, California which the City of Needles is the El Garces building a intermodal transportation center linking the community to passengers coming off the Amtrak passenger train and future tourist stop for tour buses.

According to an email sent into ZachNews from a Needles, California resident, the public meeting was held on Thursday, January 9th, 2014 from 9:00am to 10:30am PT at the Fort Mojave Tribal Offices in Needles, California.

A review from comments taken at those public meetings, both the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe and Arizona Department of Transportation (A.D.O.T.) will develop a set of recommendations based on an estimate of transit needs, the identification of destinations, and modes suitable to the needs of the Fort Mojave Indian Reservation.

The goal is for Arizona Department of Transportation (A.D.O.T.) and the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe to compile that final report by late April 2014.
