News Update!!: Glendora, CA: Evacuations, homes on fire, and 3 people detained in brush fire.

A brush fire is burning in Glendora, California.

Mandatory evacuations were issued for all homes north of Sierra Madre Avenue from the Azusa, California to Colby Mountain Trail, including the Mountain Cove community.

Flames from the brush fire are spreading rapidly and are now threatening homes.

Authorities have not confirmed whether any homes have burned, but news helicopter reports seeing at least 2 homes are on fire with a home on fire near Palm Drive in Glendora, California.

An evacuation center has been set up at Lesion Hall next to Finkbiner Park Legion Hall in the Glendora, California area.

Evacuated pets can be brought to the Pasadena Humane Society at 361 South Raymond Avenue in Pasadena, California and a shelter for evacuated horses has been set up at the Fairplex at Gate 12 located at 1101 West McKinley Avenue in Pomona, California.

The Glendora Unified School District has closed all schools and Citrus College and St. Lucy’s Priory High School were also closed for the day.

Glendora Mountain Road has been closed, Azusa Police Department have also closed Garcia Trail due to the brush fire, and Interstate 210 remains open, but traffic is slow because the brush fire was visible to drivers as well as the brush fire can been seen from all as far as Downtown Los Angeles, California.

The brush fire started at around 5:50am PT Thursday morning.

The brush fire has burned 200 acres with no containment and moving east spreading rapidly and moved down the hill toward homes.

More than 600 fire department firefighters as well as 3 water dropping helicopters and airplanes are battling this brush fire.

The cause of the brush fire is under investigation and Glendora Police Department have confirmed that at 3 people have been detained in connection to the brush fire who were seen running away from the mountains when first responders arrived.
