Downtown Needles, CA: Inside the El Garces well working to restore fountain.

A group of people working to restore a beautiful fountain outside the El Garces Train Depot got to view some of the hard work to restore this important part of Needles, California history.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez got to join the group of people who viewed the area the fountain that once stood facing the railroad platform and discuss what would take to restore this beautiful fountain as well as discussing the construction of the fountain to make sure it is level with both the train people and the railroad platform.

According to a Kinney Construction Services crew member, the construction of the project is on track and is schedule to open sometime either in March or April of 2014.

The El Garces Project to restore the El Garces Train Depot, located next to Santa Fe Park in Downtown Needles, California, has been a long awaiting project everybody has been wait for and the community cannot wait to see the inside of this is store building which will include an area for passenger train service, restroom facilities, and a waiting room area.

The Kinney Construction Services crew member tells ZachNews that the rest of the building, such as the second floor of the building, has been closed off with new walls, windows, and doors, but will be closed for access until future planning uses arrives such as office spaces.

The hope is, once opened, the El Garces Train Depot will bring more tourist into the community as well as more businesses with new jobs to develop around the El Garces Train Depot restoring Downtown Needles, California to its glory days.
