News Update!!: Simi Valley, CA: Brush fire burning in the Santa Susana Pass.

– The brush fire is now named the “Lilac Fire”.

– The brush fire burned around 10 acres.

– The brush fire is fully contained.

– No damages, deaths, or injuries reported.

– No evacuations were ordered during the brush fire, but residents living near the brush fire were told to shelter in place.

– The cause of the brush fire in under investigation.

– Firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Ventura County Fire Department are on scene.

– Around 320 fire department firefighters, four helicopters, a bulldozer, and 2 water tenders responded to the brush fire.

– According to the National Weather Service, the area in which the brush fire is happening remains under a Red Flag Warning until Friday, December 27th, 2013 at 10:00am PT.

– Fire department crews are concern of gusty winds kicking up again this morning.

– Fire department resources are being moved into place in case the gusty winds kick up the brush fire.

– The brush fire is holding at around 8 to 10 acres, but basically sheltered from the wind but has potential to carry if the wind hits the brush fire. Resources are going direct on the brush fire. They are in unified command with Los Angeles County Fire Department and Los Angeles City Fire Department with helicopter in the air from Ventura County Fire Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department and Los Angeles City Fire Department. There are a few road closures including Santa Susana Pass Road at Box Canyon Road, both directions on the 118 Freeway at the Rocky Peak Road off ramps and Lilac Lane. Lilac Lane they are Sheltering In Place. No Evacuations At This Moment.

– A brush fire has broken out at around 10:24pm PT Wednesday night in the Santa Susana Pass on the south side of the 118 Freeway in Simi Valley, California.

– The brush fire has burned at least 10 acres as of 12:00am PT Thursday.

– Structure protection is being done at homes near the brush fire.

– Firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Ventura County Fire Department are on scene.

– Fire Department Water Dropping Air Support are dropping water onto the brush fire.

– Windy conditions in the area of the brush fire. According to the National Weather Service, the area in which the brush fire is happening is under Red Flag Warning until Thursday, December 26th, 2013 at 6:00pm PT as well as a Wind Advisory until Thursday, December 26th, 2013 at 4:00pm PT.

– California Highway Patrol will be closing Santa Susana Pass Road and Box Canyon Road. Authorities are advised drivers to stay away from from the area including the 118 Freeway.
