Downtown Needles, CA: Celebrate the Christmas and Holiday Season in Downtown Needles, California this Saturday.

Many events celebrating the Christmas and Holiday Season will be happening on Saturday, December 7th, 2013 in Downtown Needles, California.

** Bring you, our family, and your friends to the following Christmas and Holiday season events: **

**** Ol’ St. Nick on Route 66 Annual Christmas Party and Lighted Parade: ****

Roll on down Route 66 with your family and friends to the Ol’ St. Nick on Route 66 Annual Christmas Party and Lighted Parade happening from 9:00am to 6:00pm PT on Saturday, December 7th, 2013 at Santa Fe Park located on the 90 block of Front Street between F Street and G Street in Downtown Needles, California.

There will be at least 25 art and craft vendors to get you in the creative spirit and at least 7 food vendors at the event to feed your holiday hunger spirit.

There will be a various of entertainment to get you in the Christmas and holiday spirit with Esther Proa performing with a community choir starting at around 10:00am PT; the Riverside Line Dancers will be performing at around 12:30pm PT, the Needles High School Band and Choirs will be performing your favorite Christmas songs at around 3:30pm PT; and the Needles Recreation Center’s Dance Trax 51 will be performing at around 4:00pm PT.

Santa Claus will be at Santa Fe Park at around 2:30pm PT and will be available to visit with all the good children until the beginning of the lighted parade.

A lighted parade will roll on down West Broadway and the historic and world famous Route 66 in Downtown Needles, California starting at around 5:30pm PT.

Lighted parade lineups will start at around 4:30 pm PT along Front Street near D Street.

All road closures are subject to change without notice and may be closed or reopen early or later.

There will be 3 categories for the lighted parade; Best Float, Best Decorated Vehicle, and Best Group and awards will be awarded later in the event.

** Lighted Parade Route: **

The lighted parade will then roll on down D Street heading south to West Broadway heading west to F Street where the lighted parade will head north then west onto Front Street where the lighted parade will pass Santa Fe Park then the lighted Parade will head south on G Street to West Broadway where the lighted parade again will go west to I Street where the lighted parade will end.

** Traffic Alert!!: **

Due to the lighted parade happening on Saturday, December 7th, 2013 as part of the Ol’ St. Nick on Route 66 Annual Christmas Party and Lighted Parade events, streets in the area around Santa Fe Park and along Front Street between West Broadway to D Street, from F Street to G Street, and from H Street to J Street; D Street from Front Street to West Broadway, West Broadway from D Street to J Street; F Street from West Broadway to Front Street; G Street from Front Street to West Broadway; and I Street from West Broadway to Front Street will all be closed during the lighted parade.

Detour routes are as followed: J Street just south of West Broadway to Third Street heading east to D Street heading north onto West Broadway.

**** PeeWee Derby Races: ****

PeeWee Derby Races, presented by the Needles Recreation Center, will be held during the event with at least 3 divisions; Ages 4 to 6; Ages 7 to 9, and ages 10 to 12 divisions.

Cars purchased through the Needles Recreation Center will be only accepted into the Peewee Derby Races and registration fee will include a Pinewood Derby car along with paint brushes, paints and decals.

Pre-registration is required at the Needles Recreation Center located at 1705 J Street just east of Bailey Avenue in Needles, California prior to the event to participate in the Peewee Derby Races and pre-race car will be inspected before the Peewee Derby Races at around 12:30pm PT on Saturday, December 7th, 2013.

Peewee Derby Races will begin between 1:00pm and 2:00pm PT next to the Needles Chamber of Commerce building located near the intersection of Front Street and G Street in Downtown Needles, California and all Peewee Derby Races will receive a participation ribbon.

Medals for the Peewee Derby Races will be awarded to first place and second place finishers from each of the divisions in the Peewee Derby Races.

**** Register your children for a new holiday toy: ****

Parents and guardians in the community can sign up their children for a new holiday toy from 9:00am to 11:00am PT at the Women’s Club of Needles event inside the Women’s Club of Needles Clubhouse located at 305 West Broadway near A Street in Downtown Needles, California and from 1:00pm to 3:00pm PT at the Desert Communities Federal Credit Union event inside Desert Communities Federal Credit Union located at 1001 West Broadway near G Street in Downtown Needles, California.

If you would like to register, all parents or guardians must bring proof of Needles, California residency and the children that will be recipients.

**** Gifts, Treats, and Santa Claus at the Women’s Club of Needles: ****

There will be great gifts, tasty treats, and Santa Claus at the Women’s Club of Needles’ Clubhouse located at 305 West Broadway near A Street in Downtown Needles, California starting at 9:00am PT on Saturday, December 7th, 2013.

Santa Claus will be there for picture taking with the good children from from 10:00am to 2:00pm PT.

There will be a charge of $3.00 for each picture taken and pictures are printed on the spot.

Parents can bring their own cameras to take photos.

A drawing for a boys bike and a girls bike will be held during the event.

Each good child who comes to see Santa Claus will be eligible for the drawing.

Both of the boys bike and girls bike were donated by an anonymous donor.

Do not forget to check out the good gift items and sweet treats that are being sold at the event.

**** Hot chocolate, cold soda, and popcorn being sold at Burger Hut during the lighted parade: ****

Burger Hut is planning to be open for the lighted parade and plans to sell hot chocolate, cold soda, and popcorn in front Burger Hut located at 701 West Broadway near D Street in Downtown Needles, California.

The lighted parade will be passing by Burger Hut and hot chocolate, cold soda, and popcorn will be sold during the lighted parade to get you into the Christmas and Holiday Season spirit.

**** Christmas and Holiday Season activities at the Desert Communities Federal Credit Union: ****

Desert Communities Federal Credit Union located at 1001 West Broadway near G Street in Downtown Needles, California will be offering some Christmas and Holiday Season activities for families on Saturday, December 7th, 2013.

They are offering the opportunity to make ornaments from 12:00pm to 4:00pm PT as cookies and punch will be offered during the event.

There will be a special guest making an appearance at around 2:00pm PT for everybody there at the event.

** Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Memorial Tree: ****

The community is invited to come to a tree lighting ceremony being held at the Memorial Tree located at the intersection of West Broadway and G Street in Downtown Needles, California on Saturday, December 7th, 2013.

Those in the community can hang ornaments on the tree in memory of loved ones.

The Memorial Christmas Tree will be lighted after the lighted parade.

City of Needles Mayor Edward T. Paget will open the tree lighting ceremony and Christmas carol will be there singing as the tree is turned on.
