The group of people on the Route 66 field trip and helping with the Corridor Management Plan to bring a National Scenic Byway designation for the portion of this historic and world famous Route 66 highway between Needles, California to Barstow, California departed by bus from Needles, California just after 8:30am PT Wednesday morning on their way along the historic and world famous Route 66 highway.
The group of people on board the bus got to see many of the historic landmarks and museums like the old school house museum in Goffs, California and an old church in Amboy, California that once sat on their main street along a realign of the Route 66 highway.
The group of people also got to see towns like Siberia, California where the town is no longer there and only left is a few stones from an old building.
The group of people got to hear the many different stories about the highway and those who lived on the highway with many of those living in communities like Amboy, California had to move their lives and businesses with the highway so not to be affected by the realignment.
The group of people arrived into Barstow, California just after 5:00pm PT with place to visit the Barstow’s Harvey House and learn more about this part of the highway in Barstow, California.
What some had to go through to keep and preserver this important part of our history for are younger generation can understand and know that this was a highway that became a part of their lives and businesses on the highway we can Route 66.
