News Update!!: Santa Clarita, CA: Latest information regarding the accident that killed 2 people including actor Paul Walker.
Actor Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas were killed in the single car accident near Rye Canyon Loop and Kelly Johnson Parkway in Santa Clarita, California at around 3:30pm PT Saturday afternoon.
40 year old Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas were attending an event for Paul Walker’s charity, Reach Out Worldwide, to aid victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines reportedly at Roger Rodas’ Valencia business.
After attending an event, Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas were in a 2 seater 2005 Porsche Carrera GT when the driver somehow lost control and slammed into a post or a tree and the car burst into flames.
Surveillance video obtained by “OMG! Insider” from a business across the street where the accident happened shows an explosion, smoke, and flames shooting about 20 feet into the air after the Porsche GT crashed into a tree.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department Station responded to that location of the accident and found a vehicle that had crashed into a pole or tree and was engulfed in flames.
Los Angeles County Fire Department Firefighters arrived to the location and extinguished the fire then found the 2 victims inside the vehicle and were pronounced dead at the scene.
On Monday,according to the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner Office, the bodies of both Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas were burned beyond recognition and dental records were needed to make positive identifications and an autopsies may be likely to be completed later in the week.
Investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department say that speed was a factor in the crash and that there is no evidence that there was a second car involved.
The cause of the deadly accident still remains under investigation.
Paul Walker’s Representative released a statement late Saturday night says “He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives.”
According to a posting on the Paul Walker’s Facebook Page from Team Paul Walker, “It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences.”
Actor Paul Walker was best known for his role in the “Fast and Furious” movie franchise and Paul Walker’s death was reportedly confirmed in a statement issued by Universal Studios.
Universal Studios, which produced the films, issued a statement late Saturday evening saying, “All of us at Universal are heartbroken. Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the ‘Fast and Furious’ films, and to countless fans. We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul’s family.”
Celebrities who worked with Paul Walker as well as his many fans around the globe are in shock and deeply sad for the lost of a great and caring actor.
Earlier Sunday, actor Tyrese Gibson, who appeared in multiple “Fast and the Furious” movies, wept as he visited the makeshift memorial that hundreds of people have dropped off flowers, messages, and lighted candles in front of the makeshift memorial site where the deadly accident happened as they all gather together to remember the actor that they all love and will deeply miss.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
