Needles, CA: Community walked and ran together during the 6th Annual 2K4 ‘R’ Kids walk and run.

The community came together to enjoy a great morning walk and run during the 6th Annual 2K4 ‘R’ Kids walk and run held last Saturday along the Colorado River at Jack Smith Park in Needles, California.

2K4 ‘R’ Kids walk and run was put on in memory of Kari and Kaira Lyn Parker, who both lost their lives in a tragic automobile accident in 2007.

The 2K4 ‘R’ Kids walk and run bringing the community together for a run and walk through the streets of Needles, California.

2K4 ‘R’ Kids Organizer and Founder Matt Parker tells ZachNews that this year’s 2K4 ‘R’ Kids walk and run event had way over 100 people participating in the 10K, 5K, and 2K walk and run with around 37 kids participating in the Kids K walk and run right along the Colorado River.

Many of those participating in the 2K4 ‘R’ Kids walk and run event loved being near the beautiful and cool Colorado River and many telling ZachNews that they will come again next year and the year after that.

Metals were awarded to the first place walkers and runners in both the 10K and 5K walk and run event including Dan Kuch of Lake Havasu City, Arizona who won the 10K walk and run finishing with a final score was 33:08.

After receiving the metal, Dan Kuch headed off to another marathon, the Havasu Mud Run, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

According to 2K4 ‘R’ Kids Organizer and Founder Matt Parker, Dan Kuch is a super marathoner and in the last 5 years, has won the 10K run and walk.

According to 2K4 ‘R’ Kids Organizer and Founder Matt Parker, money raised in this year’s 2K4 ‘R’ Kids walk and run event is reportedly in the thousands of dollars.

Money raise from the 2K4 ‘R’ Kids walk and run event helps to support all local school athletics programs in Needles, California and around the Colorado River Tri-State area such as American Youth Soccer Organization (A.Y.S.O.) and the Needles Recreation Center’s Dance Trax 51 youth dance group which around 50 kids preformed during the event. More raised is sponsoring teams and buying uniforms for kids in our community.

Supporting all of our local school athletics programs in Needles, California and around the Colorado River Tri-State area keeping kids healthy and active.

Money raised also goes to both educational, academics, band programs, dance programs, and youth programs in Needles, California and around the Colorado River Tri-State area to help educated kids and to help get kids active in our community.

According to 2K4 ‘R’ Kids Organizer and Founder Matt Parker, we give 100% of our proceeds back into our community every year and in the last 5 years, the organization raised almost $35,000.00 for the community and $12,000.00 in scholarships.

Many of these great people are donating to a good cause, in a good name, and for a good reason which is giving back to kids and supporting kids in our community.

This is a non profit event and organization that put on this walk and run event.

Lots of caring and wonderful volunteers came together before 5:30am PT Saturday morning to help set up everything for this great event includes students from both Needles High School in Needles, California and River Valley High School in Mohave Valley, Arizona.

Esther Proa led the crowd of walkers and runners in the Pledge of the Allegiance and sang the United States of America’s “Star Spangled Banner” national anthem.

Both walkers and runners got to later enjoy a delicious barbeque lunch, kids games and bounce houses, a raffle, and a silent auction with lots of great prizes from caring and wonderful businesses in and around the community including Arizona’s famous Pink Jeep Tours, a Midway Aircraft Carrier excursion, Crossfit Gym memberships, an annual pass to Jack Smith Park, a NoGuff Mobile Detailing package; deluxe Scentsy products; a set of Titleist Golf Clubs; and 2 night stays at the Avi Resort and Casino, Best Western Needles and El Rio Needles.

It was a great day for raising money for the kids in our community well enjoying a beautiful morning along the Colorado River at Jack Smith Park.
