Needles, CA: City of Needles’ 2014 calendar year healthcare cost increase.
Members of the Needles City Council heard an update on the City of Needles’ 2014 calendar year healthcare cost increase of 1.7% (An additional $10,169.00 for the year) during last Tuesday’s Needles City Council Meeting in Needles, California.
The City of Needles’ healthcare insurance overall increase for the 2014 plan year is 1.7% or an additional $10,169.00 for the year for the same coverage.
According to information in the agenda packet, broker Alliant informed the City of Needles that we could opt for a High Deductible Health Plan (H.D.H.P.) with a Health Savings Account (H.S.A.) as another option and save $78.000.00. But with renewal required by Thursday, October 24th, 2013, we could not implement a new program in time to disseminate the proper information, and educate employees on all aspects of an Health Savings Account (H.S.A.) plan. The education of all staff and employees. City of Needles Staff will be working with our broker to implement a High Deductible Health Plan (H.D.H.P.) with a Health Savings Account (H.S.A.) for next year.
The fiscal impact would be a 1.7% increase for 2014.
Members of the Needles City Council supported and approved of the agenda item, but this no vote was needed as this agenda item was an international agenda item.
