2 juvenile suspects arrested in Highland, California.

Highland, CA: 2 juvenile suspects arrested in Highland, California.

At around 2:00pm PT on August 3rd, 2013, Highland Deputies responded to a report of a juvenile with a gun inside of the Big Lots located on the 26000 block of Highland Ave in Highland, California.

An employee reported that 2 juvenile customers had just been robbed inside of the store at gunpoint.

When the employee confronted the juvenile suspects, one of the suspects lifted his shirt exposing a handgun in his waistband and stated “Want some old lady”.

The juvenile suspects then fled the store just prior to the deputies’ arrival.

With the help of the Sheriff’s Department helicopter, the two suspects were located running through an adjacent field.

The suspects were found to be a 10 year old male and a 13 year old male from Highland, California.

Through their investigation, the deputies determined that the suspects approached two juveniles unknown to them inside of the Big Lots store.

The 13 year old suspect took a replica handgun from his waistband, pointed it at the chest of one victim and demanded money.

The victims gave the suspects 60 cents and the suspects attempted flee the store.

When they were confronted by the store employee, the 10 year old suspect brandished the replica handgun in his waistband.

Deputies located two plastic replica handguns that the suspects had thrown when they were first located by the Sheriff’s Department helicopter.

The 13 year old suspect was found to be on probation for burglary.

Both suspects were booked into Juvenile Hall on robbery charges.
