This incident all began Tuesday afternoon on July 9th, 2013 between 4:00pm to 4:45pm PT in Downtown Needles, California.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez was walking south on F Street passing Front Street heading to West Broadway when he heard a loud crash like somebody hit a large window.

He began to run to where he heard the crash and that is where he see a large big rig truck making a u-turn well driving over the dark blue lamp pole and a street sign onto the sidewalk entering a dirt lot at the intersection of West Broadway and F Street.

The driver in the white big rig truck continued to make the u-turn turning now in the dirt lot from the westbound lanes of West Broadway and turning around in his u-turn to head eastbound on West Broadway.

After the white big rig truck was done making the u-turn, the driver who was described as a older male looked at the mess of broken lamp pole and street sign, and began driving away heading east on West Broadway.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez began taking pictures of the white big rig truck as the white big rig truck, as seen in the picture, drove away with me in pursuit of the white big rig truck well he tried to waved down to stop the driver.

The white big rig truck then drove into another dirty lot at the intersection of West Broadway and C Street where I ran up to the back of the white big rig truck and took a picture of the license plate tag and as ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez was taking a picture of the license plate tag in the back of the white big rig truck, a older male with a long long beard and wearing a turban on his head walked away from his white big rig truck and picked up a piece of debris from the crash, described to be something sliver and possibly from his white big rig, and began to walk across West Broadway to the sidewalk next to the Needles Assembly of God Church and School where he see ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez taking pictures.

The driver of the white big rig truck was notified that authorities are on the way and that he was on camera.

A few minutes later, authorities from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Needles Electric Line Crew Supervisor arrived at the now parked white big rig truck.

A San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Deputy asked ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez to email the pictures he took of what happen and well ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez began to leave to head to the Needles City Council Meeting, the driver of the white big rig truck was seen walking back to the white big rig truck and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Deputy began to talk to the driver of the white big rig truck.

Those in the area who seen the aftermath mess were unhappy with what happened and mad that this isn’t the first case of a big rig truck running over or into something and driving away without stopping or even looking at those trying to alert the driver of those big rig trucks of what happened.
