Breaking News!!: Castaic, CA: Brush fire in Castaic, California.

A brush fire is burning near southbound Interstate 5 near Lake Hughes Road in Castaic, California.

The brush fire is named the “Lake Fire” and started around 1:22pm PT Friday.

The brush fire has slowed to a crawl heading near Castaic Lake.

The brush fire has burned 712 acres and is at 75 percent contained.

At least 19 homes were under a mandatory evacuation orders from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

As of 4:00pm PT, those mandatory evacuations which included 4 homes on Elkridge Road and an additional 15 homes on Vista Point Place have been lifted.

There is no reports of injuries or damage from the brush fire and a spark from a vehicle is being blamed for causing the brush fire.

Friday’s brush fire comes just 5 days after another brush fire that happened on Monday, May 13th, 2013 which that brush fire burned near Interstate 5 near Templin Highway and just north of Highway 126 in Castaic, California. That brush fire was fully contained and was caused by a truck fire.
