Officials during a Thursday morning news conference are confirming that 5 to 15 people were killed in the fertilizer plant explosion and the search for the missing continues which includes 3 to 5 firefighters who were battling a fire at the fertilizer plant when then explosion happen. a firefighter who was missing has been found and is in the hospital. The fire in under control and there is no confirmed reports of looting in West, Texas.

An explosion happened at the West Fertilizer Plant in West, Texas Wednesday afternoon.


At around 6:00pm CT, a call of a fire at the plant and fire crews responded to the fertilizer plant on Jerry Mashek Drive in West, Texas.

15 to 30 minutes later, there was an explosion at the fertilizer plant occurred well fire crews were fighting a fire and evacuating people from near by homes, apartment buildings,and a nursing home.

Possibly a 5 to 6 block radius the blast at the fertilizer plant explosion in Waco, Texas is destroyed.

Around 50 to 75 homes and buildings are on fire as well as an apartment building near the fertilizer plant is collapsed, a middle school and a nursing home are damaged, and the home of the Mayor of West, Texas is on fire.

The explosion could be felt as far away as Dallas, Texas which is nearly 100 miles away from the fertilizer plant and the explosion recorded a magnitude 2.1 on the richter scale according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

Roads around the fertilizer plant are closed in West, Texas as well as a “No Fly Zone” has been issued over West, Texas.

ZachNews can confirmed the between 5 to 15 people of deaths according to law enforcement officials in West, Texas and possibly hundreds of people injured.

Officials were concern, but are preparing just in case of winds blowing noxious ammonium nitrates fumes around the area.

Officials as well as media outlets are reviewing the safety record of the fertilizer plant in West, Texas.

Carter BloodCare will be holding a blood drive at Providence Thursday between 11:00am CT and 5:00pm CT.

The Scott & White Blood Donation center is open until 2:30am CT Thursday and will later reopen at 8:00am CT.

HEB Pharmacy in the Woodway area is staying open all night to help accommodate West residents who may be injured and need prescriptions filled.

First Baptist Church of Gholson is open for anyone who needs a place to stay.

Gholson ISD open for those seeking shelter.

Brazos Meadows Baptist Church at 625 S. Hewitt Drive just adjacent to Castleman Creek Elementary will be open for anyone who needs a place to stay.

American Legion Post 121 in Elm Mott is open for displaced residents.

Sykora Family Ford in West, Texas has opened for residents who need a safe place to rest

Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro, Texas was taking in displaced residents.

The Home Depot store in Bellmead, Texas will be open all night for those who need plywood, generators, etc.

Both Peas and Tots and Smarty Pants consignment stores in Waco are accepting clothing donations in all sizes for those in West, Texas.

TSTC Student Recreation Center in West, Texas is open to take in those displaced by the explosion.

Antioch Community Church at 501 North 20th Street in West, Texas is open to displaced residents.

Alliance Auto Auction between Elm Mott and West on Interstate 35 in West, Texas is open to anyone needing a place to stay.

Penelope School is open for displaced residents at 309 Avenue D in West, Texas.

Central United Methodist Church on Bagby Avenue near Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center is open overnight.

Axtell High School will be taking any kind of donations at the school. Please donate anything! The PALS organization is taking all donations and will be accepting today and Friday during school.

West Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is open to displaced residents on South Reagan Street.

Carter Blood Center in Waco, Texas will be taking blood donations starting at 9:00am CT Thursday morning.

The American Red Cross is helping those affected by the fertilizer plant explosion.

American Red Cross crews from across Texas were sent to the site of an explosion at a fertilizer plant near Waco where multiple injuries have been reported.

The American Red Cross is working with emergency management officials in the town of West to find a safe shelter for residents displaced from their homes.
