3 Pete’s Memorial Field dedication and 2nd Annual 3 Pete’s Memorial Horseshoe Tournament and Family Day event on Saturday.

Downtown Needles, CA: This Saturday will mark the 2nd year anniversary of a tragic and deadly crash that took the lives of Pete Rodriguez III, Pete Rodriguez IV, and Pete Rodriguez V in Needles, California.

To mark and remember 3 members of the Needles, California family, the community of Needles, California are having 2 events in honor and remembrance of Pete Rodriguez III, Pete Rodriguez IV, and Pete Rodriguez V also known as the “3 Pete’s”.

The Needles Recreation Department is doing a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Pete Rodriguez III Memorial Field “3 Pete’s” Field at Duke Watkins Park located on J Street just south of Interstate 40 in Needles, California.

City of Needles Mayor Edward T. Paget will be reading a proclamation and dedicating the field which will be use for softball and baseball games which Pete Rodriguez V loved playing baseball and now young people of the Colorado River Tri-State area can enjoy a new field dedicated to a family who is loved by many in the community.

After the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony, the 3 Pete’s Memorial Youth Fund will being having the 2nd Annual Horseshoe Tournament and Family Day in the Park on Saturday, March 30th, 2013 at Santa Fe Park in Downtown Needles, California in memory of Pete Rodriguez III, Pete Rodriguez IV, and Pete Rodriguez V.

Money raised during the event will go to the 3 Pete’s Memorial Youth Fund which helps with programs related to education and sports for the young people of the Colorado River Tri-State area.

The event will start at 10:00am PT and will have food, music, vendors, games, and much more.

Santa Fe Park next to the old El Garces Hotel and Railroad Station and is located on the 900 block of Front Street between F Street and G Street just north of West Broadway in Downtown Needles, California.

Parking for the event is located at the intersections of West Broadway and G Street as well as West Broadway and F Street in Downtown Needles, California and is in walking distance to Santa Fe Park.

On Wednesday, March 30th, 2011; the lives of 51 year old Pete Rodriguez III, 30 year old Pete Rodriguez IV, and 10 years old Pete Rodriguez V were taken away when their the truck they were driving in suddenly loses control, went of the road, and smashed into trees and rocks along this dark stretch of River Road (Also known as Bridge Road) west of Jack Smith Park and just east of the River Edge Golf Course in Needles, California.

The tragic and deadly crash would touch the lives of many living in the small Mojave Desert town of Needles, California. Many throughout the Colorado River Tri-State area flocked to Needles, California with many gathering and placed flowers along a chain link fence behind the A Toe Truck in Downtown Needles, California where the truck that was involved in the crash sat well many more people gather at the crash site placing flowers, messages of support, and candles in front of the crash site as people pray and gave hugs to those who were hurting at the lost of 3 members of the Needles, California family.

Pete Rodriguez III, Pete Rodriguez IV, and Pete Rodriguez V were known around the community of Needles as caring, loving, and respectful people; Pete Rodriguez III use to work for the City of Needles for over 25 years working hard to help his community, Pete Rodriguez IV worked in construction and loved his wonderful family, and Pete Rodriguez V loved baseball, and was a good student at school. The “3 Pete’s” were loved by many around the Colorado River Tri-State area and will be missed by many in the community.

On Friday, April 8th, 2011; thousands of friends, family members, former co-workers, City of Needles officials, and people who knew the “3 Pete’s” gathered at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Downtown Needles, California to say goodbye to Pete Rodriguez III, Pete Rodriguez IV, and Pete Rodriguez V .

Many packed the St. Ann’s Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Hall well many more people gathered outside lining up along the streets and got to say goodbye to the “3 Pete’s” with tears rolling down their face as a line of cars and work crew trucks from the City of Needles rolled down West Broadway in Downtown Needles, California following the 3 hearses on the way up the golden road into Heaven.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) was called in to investigate the accident, but no further information was ever provided back to ZachNews regarding the cause of the crash.

During last year’s Horseshoe Tournament and Family Day in the Park event, family members of the Pete Rodriguez III, Pete Rodriguez IV, and Pete Rodriguez V tell ZachNews that the cause of the truck crash was medical related and not alcohol related.

Organizers hope for a larger turn out and hope everybody comes together for a day of fun in the park as one whole family.
