United States President and Vice President announced proposals to reduce gun violence.

Washington, DC: On Wednesday, United States President Barack Obama with United States Vice President Joe Biden announced their proposals to reduce gun violence.

United States President Barack Obama is calling for a $500 million dollars program to curb gun violence and asking the United States Congress to work quickly to require a universal background check for all gun purchases include those from private sellers and gun shows, restore a ban on assault rifles, and limit magazines larger than 10 rounds.

United States President Barack Obama also called for more tracking of stolen guns and those who use them, tougher punishment for those who traffic, sell, and use stolen guns, more money to allow schools to hire more resource officers and review emergency response plans, and having the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention research into the causes and effects of gun violence and violence in video games.

During the announcement, United States President Barack Obama and United States Vice President Joe Biden was joined by a group of children who wrote letters to the United States President Barack Obama after the tragic elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut in which a gunman killed at least 26 people including 20 children on the morning of Friday, December 14th, 2012.

United States President Barack Obama signed the 23 executive actions which will go into effect immediately.

The tragic elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut prompted United States President Barack Obama to promise new efforts to curb gun violence.

United States President Barack Obama placed United States Vice President Joe Biden in charge of the initiative that would deliver new policy proposals to curb gun violence.

According to United States President Barack Obama, United States Vice President Joe Biden and his team talked with 229 groups which included law enforcement officials, gun advocates, teachers, parents, and responsible gun owners to hear and get their input in curb gun violence in our county.
