Needles, CA: The community of Needles, California came together to remember former Mayor and City Council Member for the City of Needles Roy Aaron Mills.
Family and friends fulled the Needles Christian Church in Needles, California last Thursday for a memorial service to remember a great, caring, and helpful man who had done so much for his community and touch the lives of many who got the know him.
The memorial service began with a prayer and music by Needles Christian Church Pastor Tony Valentine followed by friends of Roy Mills sharing their favorite memories of him and talking about how much he loved his family and his community.
Roy Aaron Mills was born on Friday, April 6th, 1945 in Auckland, New Zealand.
Roy graduated from Needles High School in 1963.
Roy was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War.
Roy retired from ATSF (Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe) and BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) Railroad with 35 years of service being a railroad conductor and engineer.
Roy lived in Needles, California and was first elected to service the community of Needles, California in 1984 and became a mayor, a vice mayor, and city councilman over his years of serving the community he loved so much.
Roy was 67 year old when he passed away on the morning of Tuesday, December 18th, 2012 from Cancer.
Roy Aaron Mills is survived by his wife of 44 years Donna Mills, his sons Roy Jr., Jimmy, Chris, and grand children Arron, Morgan, Leslie, Zack, Jamie, and Chantele.
The memorial service ended with a tearful presentation of Roy Mills’ life followed by family and friends gave warm tearful hugs to Roy Mills’ wife and children, and grand children.
Roy Aaron Mills will be missed by many in the community he loved so much of Needles, California.
